The programme is particularly useful for students interested in:

  • Science and technology
  • Acting and theatre
  • Creative writing
  • Scientific communication
  • Public speaking
  • Teamwork and innovative thinking

Main Theme – Science & Society

The main theme prescribed for the contest is:

“Science & Society”

Every participating drama should be based on one of the prescribed sub-themes and should communicate a clear scientific message.

Science Drama Sub-Themes 2026

1. Artificial Intelligence: Friend, Tool or Threat?

Students can explore the growing role of Artificial Intelligence in education, healthcare, employment and everyday life, including its benefits, limitations and responsible use.

2. EV: Way Forward

The drama may explore Electric Vehicles, clean transportation, environmental protection, energy use and the future of sustainable mobility.

3. Interstellar Habitats

Students may creatively present scientific ideas connected with human life beyond Earth, space exploration and possible future habitats.

4. Restoring Oceans – Preserving Generations

This theme can focus on ocean conservation, pollution, marine ecosystems and the responsibility of present generations to protect natural resources for the future.

District Level Competition in Jagtial

The District Level Science Drama Competition is scheduled to be held at:

Venue: Teachers Bhavan (DCEB), Jagtial
Date: 02.09.2026
Time: 9:30 AM

Schools have been instructed to submit the required participant details through the prescribed Google Form on or before 27.08.2026.

Headmasters and teachers should therefore complete team selection, theme selection and preliminary preparation without waiting until the last date.

Science Drama Team Composition

Each participating team can have a maximum of 10 members consisting of:

One Director + One Script Writer + up to Eight Stage Artists

The stage artists may be of any gender.

Schools should strictly follow the prescribed team limit.

Maximum Duration of Drama

The total duration of the science drama should not exceed 30 minutes.

Strict adherence to the prescribed duration and maximum number of stage artists is mandatory.

The participating team must also arrange its own:

  • Stage props
  • Sets
  • Lighting requirements
  • Costumes
  • Music
  • Models
  • Other presentation requirements

The stage setup should be completed within 15 minutes.

Language of the Science Drama

The drama may be performed in any Scheduled Indian Language or in English.

If the script is prepared in a regional language, an English translation of the script should also be provided as required under the guidelines.

This gives Telugu-medium students an excellent opportunity to present their scientific ideas effectively in Telugu while complying with the documentation requirements.

Important Rules for Preparing the Script

Schools and guiding teachers should pay particular attention to originality and scientific accuracy.

1. Script Must Be Original

All entries must be original. The script should not have been previously published or submitted to another competition, either online or offline.

2. Maintain the Same Drama at Different Levels

The drama presented at the earlier level should continue at subsequent levels. Major changes to the script or presentation between different stages of the competition are not permitted.

3. Scientific Information Must Be Accurate

Scientific and technological concepts included in the drama should be presented correctly.

The presentation should avoid:

  • Misinformation
  • Sensationalism
  • Pseudoscience
  • Unscientific claims

This is especially important for themes such as Artificial Intelligence, electric vehicles and space science.

4. Keep Dialogues Simple

Dialogues should be simple, clear and easy for the audience to understand.

The guidelines encourage presentations that use effective visual action rather than depending excessively on lengthy dialogue.

5. Avoid Excessive Sloganeering

The objective is to communicate science through an engaging story. The presentation should therefore avoid excessive slogans and melodramatic performance.

How to Make the Science Drama More Effective

A good science drama should combine scientific accuracy with storytelling.

Students should not simply recite scientific facts. Instead, the script can introduce characters, situations, problems and solutions that allow the audience to understand the scientific concept naturally.

Teachers guiding the team can focus on:

Story → Scientific Problem → Characters → Conflict/Question → Scientific Explanation → Solution → Social Message

This structure can help students turn a technical topic into an interesting stage performance.

Documents and Photographs to Keep Ready

Participating schools should carefully prepare the required documentation.

Passport-size photographs of participants are required along with registration details. The reverse side of each photograph should contain relevant particulars such as:

  • Name
  • Class
  • School
  • Role played in the drama

Schools participating with a regional-language script should also keep the English translation ready.

Judging Criteria – Total 100 Marks

The participating teams will be evaluated for a total of 100 marks.

Judging Component Marks
Presentation of the Drama 50
Scientific Content 30
Effectiveness of the Drama 20
Total 100

This marking pattern shows that schools should give equal attention to stage presentation, scientific correctness and the overall impact of the message.

A technically correct script alone may not be enough; students should also practise acting, timing, expression and audience engagement.
