Telangana NMMS Scholarship 2026-27 Notification Released

The Directorate of Government Examinations (DGE), Telangana has officially released the National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship (NMMS) Examination 2026-27 notification. The scholarship aims to encourage talented students from economically weaker sections to continue their secondary education by providing financial assistance.

Eligible Class VIII students studying in Government, Local Body, Model, Residential, and Aided Schools can apply online through the official website.

What is NMMS Scholarship?

The National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship (NMMS) is a Central Government scholarship scheme implemented to reduce school dropouts and support meritorious students from economically weaker families.

Selected students receive ₹12,000 per year (₹1,000 per month) from Class IX to Class XII, subject to renewal conditions.

Scholarship Amount

  • Scholarship: ₹1,000 per month
  • Annual Scholarship: ₹12,000
  • Scholarship is credited directly to the student's bank account through the National Scholarship Portal (NSP).

Eligibility Criteria

Students must satisfy the following conditions:

  • Must be studying Class VIII during the academic year 2026-27.
  • Should be studying in:
    • Government Schools
    • Local Body Schools
    • Model Schools
    • Government Residential Schools
    • Aided Schools
  • Must have secured at least 55% marks in Class VII during the academic year 2025-26.
  • SC/ST students require a minimum of 50% marks.
  • Annual parental income should not exceed ₹3,50,000.

Schools Not Eligible

Students studying in the following institutions are not eligible:

  • Private unaided schools
  • Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs)
  • Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNVs)
  • Residential schools run by private organizations

Examination Pattern

The NMMS Examination consists of:

  1. Mental Ability Test (MAT)
  2. Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT)

Both papers assess students' reasoning ability, mathematics, science, social studies, and language skills.
