Selection Process and Exam Pattern
Civil, AR and SPF Posts
- Preliminary Written Test
- Physical Measurement Test
- Physical Efficiency Test
- Final Written Examination
- Certificate, antecedent and medical verification
The preliminary examination has two objective papers of 100 marks each: Arithmetic and Reasoning/Mental Ability at SSC standard, and General Studies at degree standard. Preliminary marks are qualifying and are not counted for final selection.
The final written examination has four papers: English, Telugu/Urdu, Arithmetic and Reasoning/Mental Ability, and General Studies. English and Telugu/Urdu are qualifying papers. The merit calculation differs for Civil, AR and SPF, particularly because PET marks are included for AR and SPF.
Communication and PTO Posts
- Certificate verification and Physical Measurement Test
- Qualifying Physical Efficiency Test
- Written Examination
- Certificate, antecedent and medical verification
There is no preliminary written test for Communication and PTO. Their written examination has three papers: descriptive English for 100 marks, Arithmetic and Reasoning/Mental Ability for 100 marks, and a Technical Paper for 200 marks. English is qualifying; final merit is based on the other two papers, totalling 300 marks.
The minimum qualifying marks in each applicable written paper are 40% for OC/EWS, 35% for BC and 30% for SC/ST candidates. Securing the minimum qualifying mark does not guarantee selection.
