Boys and girls can apply, subject to the admission rules and available seats.

Class 610–13 years1 April 2014–31 March 2017, both dates inclusive
Class 913–16 years1 April 2011–31 March 2014, both dates inclusive

Age relaxation: Wards of Armed Forces personnel killed in action are eligible for six months' relaxation in the upper age limit, subject to the prescribed conditions.

Compare the child's birth certificate with the relevant date range before paying. For example, a Class 6 applicant born on 31 March 2017 falls within the ordinary range; one born on 1 April 2017 falls outside it. Check the certificate's issuing authority against the bulletin as well.

The entrance fee is separate from school fees. Before choosing residential education, review the prospectus for tuition, caution money and other expenses, then discuss the full budget with the family.

RMS CET Exam Pattern and Syllabus Level

The written-test duration is 2 hours 30 minutes. The bulletin specifies no negative marking.

Class / paperSubjects and marksMinimum qualification
Class 6 English 50; Intelligence 50; Mathematics 50; General Knowledge and Current Affairs 50 English: 35%; each other subject: 40%
Class 9, Paper 1 English 50; Hindi 20; Social Science 30 50% in the paper
Class 9, Paper 2 Mathematics 50; Science 50 50% in the paper

Class 6 English is qualifying: its marks are excluded from the final merit calculation. The syllabus level is generally Class 5 for Class 6 entry and Class 8 for Class 9 entry. Class 6 papers are bilingual in English and Hindi; Class 9 papers use English, with the Hindi subject as prescribed.

Use the bulletin's subject-wise syllabus to build a revision list. Start with a short practice test, note the topics the child finds difficult and revise those before attempting another timed paper. Include OMR practice so that answer-sheet handling becomes familiar.

  3. Complete the application, upload the requested files and review the preview against the original documents.

Practical Guidance for Parents and School Teachers

Discuss residential life: Ask the child how they feel about living away from home, sharing routines and managing belongings. Talk through their questions before committing to the admission process. A positive discussion can make preparation more purposeful.

Keep preparation manageable: Use regular study periods alongside current schoolwork. Review mistakes together, allow time for play and sleep, and avoid making every practice score a judgement of the child's ability.

For Headmasters and teachers: Share the official notice with interested families, help compare applications with school records and explain the distinction between current class and admission class. Give each family its own document checklist and return login details and confirmation copies to the parent after providing assistance.
