One Nursing Superintendent vacancy has been identified as suitable for the notified locomotor-disability category under PwBD provisions. All vacancy figures are provisional and may be increased, reduced or cancelled according to Railway Administration requirements. Pay fixation and allowances for selected employees will be governed by the applicable Railway rules; the pay level should not be treated as a promise of a particular take-home salary.
Who Is Eligible to Apply?
Before checking educational qualifications, employees should first confirm their departmental eligibility. An applicant generally needs to satisfy all the following conditions:
- Be a serving regular/permanent employee of the erstwhile South Central Railway and draw pay on a substantive basis.
- Work in an eligible SCR department, branch, headquarters, division, workshop or unit covered by the notification.
- Be in a Grade Pay or 7th CPC level lower than the level of the post applied for, as prescribed under GDCE rules.
- Not already hold the same post for which the application is being made.
- Possess the required educational qualification by the closing date and have it properly recorded in the employee's Service Record.
- Remain on the rolls of South Central Railway until completion of the selection process. Transfer to another Railway zone during selection may lead to cancellation of candidature.
Not eligible: RPF/RPSF personnel, Law Assistants and Catering Supervisors are excluded under the stated GDCE conditions. Candidates merely appearing for, or awaiting the result of, the prescribed final qualification are also not eligible.
Post-wise Educational Qualification
1. Nursing Superintendent – 14 Posts
Candidates should possess a certificate as a Registered Nurse and Midwife after completing a three-year General Nursing and Midwifery course from a school of nursing or another institution recognised by the Indian Nursing Council, or possess a B.Sc. Nursing qualification. The concessions specifically recognised by the Indian Nursing Council for the categories mentioned in the notification will apply. The prescribed medical classification is C1.
2. Health & Malaria Inspector Grade II – 3 Posts
Candidates need a B.Sc. degree with Chemistry as a main or optional subject, together with either a one-year Diploma in Health/Sanitary Inspector or a one-year National Trade Certificate in Health Sanitary Inspector awarded by NCVT. The prescribed medical classification is C1.
3. Commercial cum Ticket Clerk – 16 Posts
Candidates should have passed Class 12 (+2 stage) or an equivalent examination with at least 50% marks in aggregate. The 50% condition is not insisted upon for SC, ST, PwBD and eligible Ex-Servicemen candidates, or for candidates possessing a qualification higher than Class 12, subject to the notification. The prescribed medical classification is B2.
Age Limit as on 1 January 2027
| Category | Maximum age | Date of birth should be on or after | PwBD maximum age |
|---|---|---|---|

Candidates claiming OBC reservation should possess the prescribed Central OBC Non-Creamy Layer certificate issued on or after 1 April 2026 and not later than the application closing date. They must also provide the prescribed self-declaration at Document Verification. An OBC community appearing only in a State list does not automatically qualify for Central reservation. Practical Preparation Plan
For Nursing Superintendent and Health Inspector
Professional Ability contributes 70 of the 100 questions, so it should receive the largest share of study time. Divide the official syllabus into strong, average and weak areas. Revise one core topic daily, solve objective questions immediately after revision and maintain a short error notebook. Reserve a smaller but regular session for General Awareness, arithmetic, reasoning and General Science.
For Commercial cum Ticket Clerk
General Awareness carries 50 questions, while Mathematics and Reasoning together contribute 70. Use short daily revision for current affairs and static general knowledge, but devote timed practice to arithmetic and reasoning. Since 120 questions must normally be handled in 90 minutes, practise quick selection of questions instead of spending too long on one calculation.
Accuracy matters
Because one-third mark is deducted for a wrong answer, blind guessing can reduce an otherwise competitive score. In mock tests, attempt certain questions first, return to questions that are solvable with additional time and avoid doubtful answers unless options can be eliminated logically. Analyse every mock for conceptual errors, calculation mistakes and poor time allocation.
Common Mistakes That Can Cause Rejection
- Assuming the GDCE is open to candidates who are not serving SCR employees
- Applying while already working in the same post or an ineligible pay level
- Using a qualification that is not completed by the closing date or not entered in the Service Record
- Submitting more than one application
- Entering details that do not match the Railway records or certificates
- Uploading an outdated OBC-NCL certificate or the wrong community-certificate format
- Uploading a blurred photograph, an invalid signature or incomplete documents
- Waiting until the final hours, when heavy traffic may interrupt submission
- Ignoring the medical classification attached to the chosen post
