Eligibility: Degree, Age and Minimum Marks

  • Degree: Graduation in any discipline from a recognised university, or the accepted equivalent qualification.
  • Graduation date: The degree must have been passed between 1 January 2023 and 1 September 2026, both dates inclusive.
  • Age: 20–28 years as on 1 September 2026, before applicable relaxation.
  • Class 12/Diploma marks: At least 60% for General/OBC/EWS candidates and 55% for SC/ST/PwBD candidates.

Graduation is required for eligibility, while the merit list uses Class 12/Diploma marks. Do not enter your degree percentage in place of the marks requested for selection.

The notification provides upper-age relaxation of 5 years for SC/ST, 3 years for OBC-NCL and 10 years for PwBD candidates, with additional conditions for specified categories. Read the complete relaxation rules for your circumstances.

Additional checks: Previous or ongoing apprenticeship and one year or more of post-qualification training or job experience can make an applicant ineligible. Read the detailed exclusions before paying a fee.

Application Fee

SC/ST/PwBDNil
All other applicants₹500, including GST and intimation charges

Where payable, the fee is non-refundable. Use the payment facility in the official application portal and retain the receipt.

Stipend and Training Period

The advertised stipend is ₹16,650 per month for the 12-month apprenticeship. The notification describes ₹10,500 from the bank and ₹6,150 as the Government share through DBT, subject to the applicable guidelines and loss-of-pay adjustments. Other allowances are not provided.

Before deciding, prepare a simple monthly budget for travel, food and accommodation. Compare these expenses with the stipend and consider whether you can attend training regularly at the allotted location.

Selection Process: Is There a Written Examination?

The advertised selection process does not prescribe a separate competitive written examination. It includes:

  1. State-wise merit based on Class 12/Diploma marks.
  2. Document verification and eligibility scrutiny.
  3. A local-language test, where applicable.
  4. Medical fitness as required by the bank.

Class 10 or Class 12 proof of studying the specified local language can provide exemption from the language test. Meeting the minimum marks does not guarantee selection.

How to Apply Online

  1. Read the notification: Check your degree completion date, age, marks, category and apprenticeship history.
  2. Complete NATS registration: Visit the official NATS portal, complete your profile to 100% and retain the enrolment ID.
  3. Open the bank's application link: Use the official Canara Bank apprentice application portal, linked from the bank's recruitment page.
  4. Register and fill the form: Enter your NATS ID, personal particulars, education details, category and state preference accurately.
  5. Upload the required files: Follow the photograph, signature, thumb-impression and declaration instructions in the portal.
  6. Review and pay: Check every entry and complete the fee payment if applicable before final submission.
  7. Keep your records: Save the submitted form, registration details and payment acknowledgement securely.

NATS registration alone is not the bank application. Complete the separate Canara Bank application within the advertised window.

Application Preparation Checklist

Keep your Class 10 certificate, Class 12/Diploma marks, graduation proof, identity details, NATS enrolment ID and applicable category certificates ready. Prepare the requested photograph, signature, thumb impression and handwritten declaration using the portal's specifications. Use an active personal email address and mobile number.

This checklist helps you prepare. Upload documents only where the official form requests them, and follow the bank's later instructions for original-document verification.

Common Application Mistakes to Avoid

  • Checking only the degree: Review the graduation date and Class 12/Diploma threshold separately.
  • Using an estimated percentage: Work from your complete marks record and the board's conversion rules. Avoid assuming a rounded figure will be accepted.
  • Ignoring earlier training: Compare your apprenticeship and employment history with the notification's exclusions.
  • Submitting an unfinished form: Revisit the portal and confirm that submission and any required payment are complete.
  • Leaving everything to the last day: Allow time to correct unreadable uploads or resolve login and payment issues.

For a useful final review, place your certificates beside the application preview. Check names, dates, marks and category line by line, then save a copy of the completed form in one clearly named folder.
